Sick Days

For the last two months someone has been sick in our house. I am going to the Doctor today for the third time. Addie has been twice, Nick once, and Lizzie. We have had sinus infections, ear infections, hand foot and mouth, allergies, and I have had a headache now for eight weeks whether it is a migraine or sinus headache or who knows. Anyway I am sick and tired of it. I just keep waiting for us all to feel well at the same time. Last week after a particularly bad night Nick decided to take a sick day and let me sleep the day away. Meanwhile he cleaned the house, did the mountain of laundry, and played with the girls. It was a nice break and leaves me wishing that the work day was four days a week instead of five or maybe just wishing for a maid:>

Thanks for the Squeak

Sometimes Addie picks and chooses the lessons she learns. We had a quick lesson about gratitude this past Monday. We were talking about being thankful for what we have even when it is not everything we want. After describing some of the things we should be grateful for Addie started asking about all of the stuff she has. At one point she asked about her toys and I said "Yes, you should be thankful for your toys because you have so many and there are a lot of people who don't have any at all." Yes, I felt like the parent talking about the starving kids in Africa, but that is beside the point.

Later that night we were saying prayers before bed and after all of the typical things she said: "Thank you for my toys, and that they squeak, and that they are sooooo funny."

Not exactly the lesson I was trying to convey but a valid point.

Silver Lake

This weekend the weather was beautiful which meant we were finally able to go out and hike. We went up to Silver lake in AF canyon and then hiked to the second Silver lake. It was a beautiful hike with a lot of snow still since it has been so cold this spring. Nick's brother and family all came too. We looked like a circus train with all four kids in backpacks but they all loved it. Except Lizzie who decided to try out the echo on the way down. Afterward we cooked hot dogs and hung around the campfire until way too late, but for the first time Lizzie actually transferred from the car seat to her crib and then slept through the night. I might be taking her hiking a lot more.

Lizzie Lou

Yes, I have two children. I realize that Addie is more often talked about but I do in fact have a second little girl who is so much quieter she tends to blend in. She is really cute though and getting so close to crawling. Here are a couple of pictures of her sitting and up on her hands and knees almost daring to move but still preferring the army crawl to get around.

Memorial Day

Our memorial day was wet and rainy and all the plans changed, but Addie made the most of it. She got herself dressed up in her "pitter pat" clothes so she could play in the rain and blow her new bubbles. Yes, those are her pajamas underneath she has a new habit of putting her clothes on, on top of her jamies so she saves time.

Dad's fun

I had a horrible migraine the other day so when Nick got home he packed the girls up with dinner and took off. He always seems to find something fun to do so here are some pictures of their adventure up the canyon.

Yoga Master

Yesterday I was getting ready to go running and Addie asked me, "Are you going to go do Yoga?" I told her that I was going running not doing Yoga. She said, "No lets do Yoga instead." I ignored her and continued getting ready and then I looked over and there she was in down dog repeating, "breath in through your nose breath out through your nose breath in through your nose breath out." I guess she pays more attention to the yoga video then I thought.
