What's for lunch?

Today I asked Addie what she wanted for lunch and she told me that she wanted a cricket sandwich. I asked her if she meant crooked and she said, "No, a cricket sandwich. We can go catch them by where the hose is and put them in the bread and I will eat them quick before they hop out, but they might be hard to find because I think they're nocturnal." Can anyone tell me where this came from?

Time Trial

While we were in California we went up to Solvang and watched the time trial in the Tour of California. For anyone (almost everyone) who doesn't care to see a lot of people they don't know and haven't heard of I will summarize- it was a lot of fun.
Now for a little more detail the time trial is a ton of fun to watch because you get to see a lot more of the actual race. We started at the finish line where you can watch the riders make their way through the crowds to start and then we headed over to watch the best guys finish. All the while finding our favorite riders, taking pictures, getting free stuff, and buying souvenirs.

I was really sad that one of my favorites dropped out after winning the first stage, but at least I got to see his amazing time trial bike.
Anyone recognize this guy? Yeah he just came riding by doing his warm up and then had to fight his way through the crowds to get back to his bus. Nick and I were getting pictures as fast as we could and saying Hi and generally freaking out when some lady said, "Who is that? Is he a good rider?" I told her that he won the tour last year and she said, "no Levi won the tour last year." I didn't get to explain to her that I was talking about the Tour de France not the Tour of California

This is Nick writing this portion. I have to explain that the picture above is of Natalie's sports crush, Ivan Basso. We stuck around there for a while to watch him warm up. After he was done my Dad got his water bottle and then, later, Nat got it signed by Mr. Basso himself. Pretty dang cool. Sadly he dropped out of the race that day. You can see the bandages on his knee. Apparently he crashed earlier in the day and had to call it.

Format Problems

As a note, I put numbered point in the post below, the blog format changed them to flowers. I feel kind of funny about that but I guess you take what you get.

Nana and Papi's Canyafonia House

The title is an attempt at a phonetic spelling of Addie's pronunciation.

From the previous leg of Santa Monica We continued on up the coast. We drove the 1 up to Oxnard (he he he) and then through Ventura to Santa Barbara. I do love that place. Anyway we surprised Nana when we called at the late hour of 10:30. I think we caused a minor panic showing up a bit earlier than expected. I am not going to go into the trip point by point because that would take over an hour to write and I really hope that you have something better to do with your time. I will make several statements that summarize some of my thoughts.

1. I could live in Santa Barbara just for the available running trails
2. I could live in Santa Barbara just for the available biking routes
3. Lizzie is a fish that would not get out of the water
4. Addie's favorite part about the beach was the waves. That is after she had a thirty minute out-of-control breakdown about huge waves coming and taking us out to sea
5. I think Nana would cut off her right arm if either of my kids asked her
   
6. It is good to have co-conspirators
7. Getting out of the house can pay big dividends (this picture also goes along with the point above)
8. Silly hats are a good idea sometimes
9. Don't worry if people are looking at you funny for the sake of a good picture
10. No point here, just a good picture

As you can tell it was a great trip.Amazing really. We did everything we wanted to do and then some. We got great weather (rain the day before we came and rain the day after but 70s while we were there), a great trip to the beach, and a lot of good hang out time. In addition to all of that we went and saw the time trial for the Tour of California in Solvang. That will just have to be the next post as this one has already taken too much of your life to read. Plus it will only appeal to fellow bike nerds. Anyway it was great. Thanks again Nana and Papi! (It must have been good because I hate exclamation points and I had to use one there.)

President's Day, Part 2

Definitely not the next day. Anyway... Our President's Day tour continued in Santa Monica with our friends, the Joneseseseses. The drive was fairly smooth. We took off at 5:30 from St George so we were already in Barstow before the girls knew what hit them. When we got to the PCH Addie got very excited because the beach was "so beautiful" and she knew that Kate lived by the beach. We had a great visit including a long walk on the beach and puppies. OK, the puppies were exaggeration but we did walk for quite a while along the bluff overlooking the beach. A bit of the walk was on the street below.Addie thought it was funny that there were two Adelaides and that one of them was a street. I think she will fall over when she figures out that there is a city too.

Aside from Addie we got to see and play with Spencer and Andrea which is always great. They are great friends and we miss them here in Utah. Plus, Nat and I got to sleep on the thickest air mattress known to man. Thanks for hosting us and for the cupcakes. It was great. Here are a couple more pictures from the trip.When you can hang out on a tree like this you don't ask questions, you just do it.Just more games. It is great to see these guys just launch into playing like they saw each other yesterday and left a game undone.
